E. Richard Clark
Richard Clark, NWS (b 1943) is an award-winning, self-taught watercolor artist who specializes in original imagery that depict the rural south. He worked as an illustrator, Technical Illustrator for Lockheed Ga, a Graphic Artist for the Atlanta Regional Commission, Southern Bell, Bellsouth, and AT&T before pursuing his fine art career exclusively.
Clark has received numerous cash and purchase awards through various state, regional and national juried art competitions. He won the top honor in the National Watercolor Society 92nd Annual Juried Exhibition, “The National Watercolor Society Purchase Award with Silver Star” and Clark’s painting was placed in their permanent collection. The painting “Antigua, Street Limbo” was on a 12-month tour around the United States. He was named “The Best of the Best” Water media paintings of the year and featured in an article in Watercolor Artists. Clark won the Dr. Samella S. Lewis Painting Award at Hampton Museum’s National 2016 New Power Generation Juried Exhibition. 2016 National Watercolor Society International Exhibition won Daniel Smith Merchandise Purchase Award. 2017 National Watercolor Society Members Exhibition won The William E. Pajaud President Award. His painting “Done Sweeping” was selected for the National Watercolor Society 50 Stars Exhibition 2020.
Clark is a Master Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, and an Associate member of the American Watercolor Society, Decatur Arts Alliance, Cultural Arts of Douglasville, Hampton University Museum, 2nd V.P. Atlanta Artists Center, AAFTA, and NAAH BCU. His paintings are in numerous private collections as well as the permanent collections of the National Watercolor Society, Alabama State University, and the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville.
