Sanusi Olatunji was born in the Yoruba town – Ejigbo in Lagos, Nigeria. Growing up as the only artist in his family, and in a town where art was not well received by the majority, this did not stop Sanusi from pursuing his dream of becoming an accomplished artist.
With a degree in art and a background in industrial techniques, he blends traditional and contemporary influences in his work. Specializing in fabric collage, he beautifully weaves stories of Africa and its children, advocating for recycling through his motto “Waste is wealth”. Now based in Maryland, he finds inspiration in both Nigerian heritage and global experiences. Olatunji’s work reflects his journey across Africa, with South Africa providing a platform to nurture his dreams.
