Artists’ Insights:  Inspired by the words of Michelle Obama, “When they go low, we go high” I wanted to create an image that spoke volumes to who she is and her commitment to excellence. I also wanted to create an image that honors the confidence of Black women and the joy in knowing self. She wears her a characteristic style fitted designer pink dress, an elegant blue pearl necklace and matching eyeliner, bringing her radiating confidence and grace to the canvas. I gave her the biggest smile because, in life, black women have learned to shrug off negativity. This simple yet elegant classical composition, conveys power as she stands with her head slightly bowed, eyes closed, and a big smile on her face.
