Artists’ Insights:  This painting tells the story of an elderly gentleman that reunites with his first love, the trumpet. We join him standing in his living room after coming in from the terrace looking out on Mount Rainier. You can feel the afternoon sun filling the room with warm light glistening through the big bay windows. The richness of African culture adorns the walls with tapestries and fine art. Dressed in a new bespoke suit for the dinner party later tonight, he finds himself overwhelmed with excitement to open a gift that arrived earlier.
